Belarus’ trade deficit widens
June 26, Pozirk. Belarus’ foreign trade in goods and services rose by 2.2 percent year on year to $31.7 billion in January-April, said the central bank, citing preliminary data.
Exports decreased by 0.3 percent to $15.4 billion, while imports rose by 4.7 percent to $16.3 billion. The deficit widened to at $856 million from $92.6 million in the same period last year.
Trade in goods rose by 0.1 percent to $26.2 billion with exports down 3.7 percent to $12.1 billion. Imports rose by 3.5 percent to $14.1 billion. The deficit of trade in goods widened by 89.2 percent to $1.98 billion.
Trade in services rose by 14.1 percent to $5.4 billion, with exports growing by 14.7 percent to $3.3 billion and imports rising by 13.2 percent to $2.2 billion. The surplus increased by 17.8 percent to $1.1 billion.
