Government spending on security, judiciary exceeded $2.6 billion in 2024
June 13, Pozirk. Belarusian MPs have approved the 2024 budget implementation report with revenues at 44.6 billion rubels ($14.9 billion) and spending at 43.9 billion ($14.7 billion), the lower house’s press office reports, noting a surplus of 718 million rubles.
Spending on government activities amounted to 19.8 billion rubels ($6.63); national defense, 3.1 billion rubels ($1 billion); and judiciary, law enforcement and security, 4.7 billion rubels ($1.6 billion). Spending on security and courts exceeded $2.6 billion in equivalent.
By contrast, state funding of healthcare amounted to 2.5 billion rubels ($838 million at today’s market exchange rate) and social policies, 2.7 billion rubels.
For 2025, the government projected revenue of 45.84 billion rubels (a year on year increase of 8.1 percent) and spending of 50.3 billion rubels (up 12 percent) with a deficit of 4.46 billion.
