Cichanoŭskaja calls on Belarusian diaspora to unite

May 24, Pozirk. Belarusians need to establish a sustainable network abroad to secure the long-term goal of building democracy in Belarus, opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja has told the Fourth Conference of the Belarusian Diaspora in Warsaw.
These structures should be based on trust, solidarity and self-organization and aim to advocate support for Belarusians jailed in politically-motivated cases, engage in cultural diplomacy, help Belarusians to legalize their stay abroad and secure accountability for Alaksandar Łukašenka and his officials, she noted.
“We should look for solutions together instead of waiting for ideal conditions as there will be none. We don’t need to despair and we don’t need to look for excuses, we just need to act,” the politician stressed.
The conference features more than 200 participants from 15 countries, including representatives of the so-called “old diaspora” and the post-2020 wave of emigration.
