Cichanoŭskaja advises “good Russians” to tone down imperialistic ambitions
April 18, Pozirk. Belarusian and Russian democratic activists have “no grounds” for closer cooperation because of a different context and different goals, Belarusian opposition leader Śviatłana Cichanoŭskaja told I Gryanul Grem political show on YouTube.
Russian opposition activists could build trust by declaring respect for sovereignty and independence of all former Soviet countries, in particular Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia if they manage to take power in Russia, she stressed.
They should also “tone down their imperialistic ambitions, because every country has the right to choose the future it wants,” the politician said.
Cichanoŭskaja said she had only sporadic contacts with Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny, who died in custody last year. Their first meeting in Germany’s Munich on the day of Navalny’s death was followed by several other meetings at various conferences.
“I support her [Navalnaya] wholeheartedly, because she also has a very complicated fate,” the politician noted.
