Minsk police announces thorough checks on people not employed in economy

February 17, Pozirk. The Minsk police has announced thorough checks on people who are not formally employed in the economy.
Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakoŭ “outlined the primary task of updating information in the database of working-age persons unemployed in the economy,” it said. The surprise checks will be carried out in all city districts, it said, noting that “proposals on improving the legislation will be submitted.”
“Special attention will be given to people working abroad. Control over the so-called idlers and those getting off-the-books salaries will be strengthened. Employment programs will be expanded. Those avoiding employment because of their alcohol or drug addiction will be sent to LTPs [forced labor rehabilitation centers],” it said.
“In Minsk, we will check this category 100 percent. Everyone using public services must work,” the minister said.
