Zelensky predicts Putin’s push to involve Belarus in Ukraine war

February 6, Pozirk. Vladimir Putin will try to drag Belarus into his war this year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after a news conference with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy in Kyiv yesterday.
“This is not just another piece of rhetoric,” Zelensky said, according to a video released by RBC-Ukraine. “You will see him deploying forces to Belarus in the spring, summer or autumn. And many Europeans, maybe even the USA, will call it intimidation. It is intimidating to Poland, Lithuania and other Baltic partners.”
Belarus already participated in the war as the Russians attacked Ukraine from its territory, Zelensky said, but “not its people and not its troops.” “Not yet. But Putin really wants this. So I think we must do everything to stop him,” the Ukrainian leader said.
Officials in Minsk support the Russian war against Ukraine.
On July 21, 2022, Alaksandar Łukašenka told Agence France-Presse that the Russians had sent a 20,000-strong army from Belarus to Ukraine. The Ukrainians have since liberated their northern territory.
Asked whether he felt any remorse for letting Russia attack Ukraine from Belarusian territory at a news conference last month, Łukašenka said he had no regrets.
