Belarus’ trade deficit widens to $314.7 million

December 12, Pozirk. Belarus’ foreign trade deficit has widened to $314.7 million.
The deficit, measured from January to October, was recorded after a $567.6-million surplus reported a year earlier.
Trade in goods and services rose by 6.1 percent year on year to $82.8 billion in January-October, said the central bank, citing preliminary data, with exports outpacing imports.
Exports grew by 4.3 percent to $41.3 billion, while imports climbed by 7.3 percent to $41.6 billion.
Trade in goods rose by 5.5 percent to $69.7 billion with exports climbing by 3.5 percent to $33.3 billion and imports, by 7.4 percent to $36.4 billion. The deficit of trade in goods widened by 14.5 percent year on year to $3.1 billion.
Trade in services rose by 9.3 percent to $13.2 billion, with exports growing by 11.4 percent to almost $8 billion and imports rising by 6.3 percent to $4.9 billion. The surplus widened by 22.5 percent to $2.7 billion.
Authorities projected a 7.6-percent rise in exports of goods and services this year, following a 6.8 percent increase in trade in goods and services in 2023 to $95.26 billion.
