Belarus downs drones regardless of origin – Łukašenka

October 4, Pozirk. One day after a drone crash in southern Belarus, Alaksandar Łukašenka has admitted incursions, adding that Belarus has downed “many” unmanned aerial vehicles regardless of their Ukrainian or Russian origin.
Łukašenka linked the incursions to errors by operators and electronic countermeasures.
“There were several such incidents [incursions] both from Russia and Ukraine,” he said during his tour of the Brest region’s Pinsk district.
Yesterday, media reported that one more Russian drone entered Belarus in the early hours of October 3. The Iranian-designed Shahed drone crashed in Kalinkavičy, Homiel region.
Earlier today, the Internal Troops published a video of the brutal arrest of a woman in Kalinkavičy accused of sharing the crash footage with opposition media outlets.
The defense monitoring group Biełaruski Hajun has been reporting drone incursions into Belarus over the past three months as Russians targeted Ukraine.
In early September, Belarusian air defenses downed several drones over Homiel.
Speaking to a group of reporters and locals, Łukašenka said he does not want war and does his best for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to end as soon as possible.
“We’ll do anything to co-exist with Ukraine peacefully if they want it. The people want it, but – they say – the Americans control Ukraine’s leadership,” he claimed.
