Consumer prices rise 25,000-fold in 30 years of Łukašenka in power

August 28, Pozirk. Consumer prices in Belarus rose 25.743-fold in the 30 years of Alaksandar Łukašenka’s rule in Belarus, says Pozirk‘s analysis of the National Statistics Committee (Biełstat) data from August 1994 to July 2024.
The highest inflation was recorded in the second half of 1994, right after Łukašenka took office, as prices rose 4.46-fold.
Soaring inflation was also recorded in 1997-1996, 2001, 2012 and 2022.
Consumer prices rose by 3.4 percent in the first seven months of 2024. The government projected a 6-percent increase this year.
